Rider Fundamental Movements

Did you know rider asymmetries are common? Even highly skilled riders may have asymmetries!
A functional movement assessment of the rider on and off the horse allows for a better understanding as to rider fundamental movement limitations or commonly called “asymmetries”.

Why is this important to riders?
1. Demonstrates movement patterns that produce pain while riding.
2. Demonstrates movement patterns that may affect horse’s performance.
3. Identifies movement patterns that cause deficient riding performance.

The Rider Asymmetry Assessment offered by Physio Equine Solutions combines functional movement assessment with sport specific video analysis of motion. This allows the physical therapist to discern the underlying cause of the limited functional movement. Once the big picture cause – effect relationship is identified, appropriate physical therapy interventions and exercise programs can be implemented and monitored to improve rider and horse performance.
